Laughter Makes the World Go Round

Good Morning World!

We all love a good case of the giggles, the kind where your stomach starts to hurt, or the kind that makes you run to the toilet in fear, or the silent laughter you do while pulling a face for radio. The latter being my unconcious go-to. It’s a great love in all of us.

There is nothing I love more than the company of people who can make me laugh uncontrollably. If you can find someone who can make you forget about the boring parts of life and create a new happiness. Those are the people you want to spend time with, and those are the people you want to surround yourself with.

I have only recently realised this!

A couple of months ago a big thing happened between me and another individual, it was no ones faul, it just happened. As a result of this, I lost a lot of friends. I lost people who I used to call my best friends, people I use to spend my entire summer with; just gone. It made me realise the importance of real friendship and I how when you went to school you were friends with the people you saw everyday, for no other reason than that; you saw them everyday. My first semester at University served to be fine, but after this ‘incidence’ things just started to disolve. I noticed things I didn’t previosuly. I behaved the same before and after but it was them who ultimatly made the final decision.

The past weeks I have then only surrounded myself with the people who make me smile, the people I can truly be myself around. Going through something this difficult makes you realise who is actually there for you and who was just around for the ride. Because we both lost something, and the fact my ‘friends’ decided to make the choice for me to leave upset me, but now I know I’m better off.

The moral of this story is that laughter comes from being truly comfortable and happy, so only surround yourself with people who do that!

Double Rainbow

Good Morning World!

I am defiantly one of those people who’s mood is affected by the weather. Rain makes me miserable, the sun makes me happy and clouds are not friends. So when staring out my window on a cold rainy day I felt sluggish, but because I saw a rainbow I felt inspired.

Rainbows tell us to hold onto hope, and believe beyond the shadow of doubt when following our hearts desires. But a double rainbow opens up the path of personal magic. Its a signal to be true to yourself and know that the universe is conspiring on your behalf. Its shows that your intuition is keener than you imagined and is urging you to trust your gut.

I am and always have been a keen believer in Astrology. I believe that there are certain things in our lives that our uncontrollable, but I also believe that there are certain things we have to do for ourselves. I agree that there are certain people in this world that you are meant to meet, some to help you grow, or some to help you to learn but I believe that that’s it, it is you that has to actively go out and learn these lesson, this is something the universe cannot do for you. I know this phenomenon is not a favourite in everyone but I do have a point.

Rainbows mean just this! They bring hope and are the key for believing in your greatest desires. I know symbolism doesn’t mean anything in a broad sense, and if you passively look at anything then things won’t happen. This post isn’t about the wonderful nature of rainbows and how they magically bring you good things. Its about believing you can do something. I know that when I have someone behind me cheering me on, like your parents do a sports day, its so much easier to do well. You’re making someone else proud as well as yourself.

They hold the key for unlocking desire and achieving something you have always wanted to do. If you look at this on a simple level, before I saw that rainbow I wasn’t in the mood to do anything that day, the rain makes you want to sit inside in front of the TV, but that light of inspiration lead to this blog post, and it led me see the light in most things. What I am trying to say is, there is light in everything you do. There may be bad times but it takes a small piece of light to realise your motivation. This light (the rainbow) helps you to achieve things, it brings you hope, it brings motivation and above all it brings you magic.

Lets Talk About Self Love

Good Morning World!

Feeling a sense of self-gratification and self-worth comes from loving yourself. Self-love, although I haven’t yet mastered myself is something we all need to work on. We have been given one life, and one self that it is important that we treasure it and learn to love ourselves.

I have been wanting to do this ‘Tag’ post for a while now, not only do I think that the questions are pretty fun but I also think this is a good way for my readers to get to know me. To get to know the face behind my words.

1. What is one thing that gets you down?

One thing that gets me down is not doing anything. I am someone who needs to be doing something at all times otherwise I get seriously bored. When I don’t have something to do, I get really upset and I overthink everything which ends up being extremely unhealthy. This is why blogging is such a good hobby for me because I can always just write another blog post or take another picture.

2. What is one thing that makes you happy?

There are so many things of this earth that make me happy, but the one thing that brings the biggest smile to my face are my dogs. The love I have for those fluffy creatures is beyond anything.

3. What are 3 guilty pleasures of yours?

The first one being rather obvious to anyone who knows me but I indulge in chocolate WAY too much, (she says sat eating a share bag of minstrels).

The second being online shopping, I am a sucker. I almost always have a tab open on my computer where I am browsing through the latest trends and fashions. My basket is always filled with an extortionate amount of stuff that I cannot afford. I just pine over the beautiful clothes and shoes hoping that I’ll one day win the lottery and buy it all.

My final guilty pleasure is watching ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ the American reality TV show where brides pick out their wedding dresses. I love it, and I secretly dream of buying my own dress from Kleinfeld.

4. Name one thing you would like to improve about yourself

I would like to improve my intelligence and my work ethic. Although I have a massive love for books and school, there comes times when I just sit and procrastinate or not do anything. I want to become the best person I can be, and I think this will come to me through intelligence. Knowledge is power.

5. When was the last time you belly laughed?

The last time I belly laughed was earlier today when I went for dinner with my Grandma and my younger brother. My brother told a rather rude joke (too rude for my blog) and my Gran’s face was a picture. I couldn’t contain myself.

6. What is your biggest fear/insecurity?

My biggest insecurity is not being liked or feeling as though I don’t belong. I take criticism very harshly and even if I know a person is joking it can hit me harder than they would think. This is a massive insecurity of mine.

7. Name a song that always cheers you up?

The song that always cheers me up is actually Defying Gravity from the West End Production of Wicked. There is something about the song that is so dramatic and it never fails to have me singing along pretending to be on stage.

8. What are 3 things you like about yourself?

I like that I am a very trustworthy person, and I would value myself on being a good friend. I like that I am an open person, and I think this is a good trait to have especially when meeting new people. Finally I like my sense of style and my fashion sense.

9. What is one achievement that has made you proud of yourself this year?

I am very proud of how hard I have worked in my Gap Year, and how much I have been able to save for University. I am also proud that I was able to find, and get into my first choice University. I have worked very hard this year and I am proud I get to commend my achievement in this blog post.

10. What is your happiest memory?

My happiest memory was being in France on a family holiday with my Grandparents, mum and brother. This was the first holiday we took since my parents had separated and I could see she was much happier being on her own, despite her inner sadness.

Ruffle Waist Trousers | Autumn Transition Look

Good Morning World!

DSC_0587 (2)DSC_0611 (2)DSC_0613 (2)DSC_0762 (2)DSC_0777 (2)

As we enter a new season, fashions as well as many other things change. As the months get colder and the leaves start to drop from the trees its time to change your style into something warmer and comfier. This season, according to Vogue, is all about the wide leg trousers. They’re an excellent clothing piece for these transitional months into winter, they offer more insulation due to the extended space in the leg and not to mention comfort, (I felt like I was wearing pyjamas).

I found these candy blue striped trousers in Topshop for £39, and paired it with a burgundy top to illustrate Autumn. However, as the British cold weather decides to visit us once again, I will start wearing these trousers with cropped jumpers, this is so the ruffled waistline is still accentuated and gives the perception of a more hourglass figure.

Why I Started Blogging | 2nd Blog-iversary

Good Morning World!

2017-19-07-15-16-49

Today, the 28th July 2017 marks the second birthday of my little blog, and the second anniversary of my very first post Good Morning World (which dare I say, is one of my more well written posts) . The day I decided to open up my life or my diary, if you will, to the world. The saying ‘time flies when you’re having fun’ certainly applies here, as despite having down days and unmotivated moments (like any other blogger) I really enjoy writing every post.

Blogging for me, has always been an outlet, a hobby, somewhere where I can talk about whatever pleases me most, not worrying about what others may thing of me. A place that is my little space on the big wide web. It wasn’t created for the purpose of getting followers or views, I mostly wrote it for myself, and I guess I still do. Most people after 2 years of blogging have a huge following and that never really was something I needed, and it was never something I worked towards. I posted my work and was done with it, no self-advertising, no nothing, just hoping that someone would stumble across my little blog and enjoy a good read. Which is slightly a bad thing, as many of my earlier posts, and some now do go unnoticed. But as of the last month I have started to warm to the idea of self-advertising, and the tooting of ones horn over on my twitter.

Despite working on this blog for two whole years now, there are still so many things that I struggle with in the big blogosphere. One of which being flat lays, I am so hopeless at creating them, I always end up having a shadow over my pictures or not having those ever so wonderful blogger props that everyone seems to be using now. This also co-insides with the whole picture thing in general, if you could only see how many posts I have written ready to publish that only need a picture. Its disappointing.

I guess the whole reason for creating this blog was so I could feel a little more important in this world, and in more ways than one it has kept me sane. I am a very introverted person, and mostly the idea of a big group of people does throw a spanner in the works, so when I stumbled upon the blogging world, I felt I slipped in well.

I am so thankful for this wonderful space I have created, and I will not stop doing what I love.

Happy Blogging,

Top 8 Ways to Live a Happier Life

Good Morning World!

Happiness, its a concept, an idea. The idea that if something good happens to us then we’ll be happy, but that’s not always the case. Often things can go wrong which then leaves us feeling unhappy, but these things are out of our control. However, what we can control is how we react to these stimuli, which means that we can be in control of our own happiness.

Aviary Photo_131420108375096748

I feel it essential to share my top tips on happiness, these are habits that everyone is aware of but sometimes we forget to act on them.

1.  DON’T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS

Everyone is a unique individual and if you start comparing yourselves to others then you’re only hurting yourself. Of course there are times when you look at something and think “Gosh I wish I had her hair” or “I’ll never be able to do what she’s done”. I know the feeling but there are so many great things about you that other people wish they had or could do. So never put yourself down.

2. BE KIND

In life, I have learnt that there is nothing an act of kindness cant solve, and the great thing about it is that its free, and its contagious. Even a smile can brighten someone’s day: its the littles things that mean the most. Also be appreciative of others and try to recognise when others need support and they will then give it you in return.

3. STOP DOING THINGS YOU DON’T WANT TO DO

This is your life! Do what you want! There is no shame in admitting you don’t want to do something and I know there are times that you do say those things, but if it really bothers you, then do something about it. Even if it means changing careers halfway through your life, do it! If your happiness is on the line then anything is worth it.

4. EXERCISE

Sport is a great way to get out the house, meet new friends and clear your mind. Even something as simple as a 10-minute walk can brighten your thought process for the day. I know that intellectually, exercise releases endorphins into your brain that then releases serotonin; the happy molecule.

5. BE GRATEFUL

How many times a day do you use the words “Thank You”. Learn how to open up and you will receive and abundance of joy and happiness. Living in a first world country means that I have access to things I take for granted. Being grateful for what you have makes you appreciate the little things in life.

6. SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES

Although an abundant social and romantic life does not itself guarantee you joy, it does have a huge impact on our happiness. Spending time with the people you enjoy to be around are a must, try and make friendships a priority in life.

7. EAT HEALTHIER

I cant speak for everyone but I know that when I have a balanced and nutritious meal, including loads of fruit I always feel better about myself. I know that I am treating my body the way it was intended to be treated, that in itself makes me happier.

8. KEEP TRACK OF YOUR GOALS

Everyone have goals, whether that be big or small. But when you don’t keep track of them you can lose motivation and passion to for fulfilling them, or you might not even reach them because you cant satisfy them. Keeping lists and keeping steps to achieve those goals is a simple way of doing this.

I hope this posts helps someone in some way. Thank you for reading.

Statement Denim Jacket

Good Morning World!

Are statement jackets are thing? I guess they must be.. but this jacket brings me so much love that I make a statement with it everyday of the week. This was an impulse buy when browsing on the Topshop website a few weeks ago, and ever since it has come into my possession its my favourite thing!

dsc_0348dsc_0352

The patterned detailing was what drew me to this jacket, but despite wanting it I never thought that I would wear it as much as I do. It cost me a little under £60 which for a warm jacket isn’t half bad (she tells herself) but considering the amount of wear I get out of it, its certainly worth it. I even had someone come up to when I was in Bicester village to ask where my jacket was from, which you usually don’t get!

dsc_0357dsc_0345

I paired the jacket with yet another top from my ‘try-something-new-Zara-shopping-trip”. I loved the red floral detailed on the bottom of this shirt that makes it acceptable to wear from spring into summer because of the warm colour. I am also wearing some white jeans which I actually got from New Look a few years ago before I discovered the wonder that is Topshop jeans.
