Parisian Adventures | Paris Diaries | Day 4

Good Morning World!

Lets visit the place where dreams come true! DISNEYLAND!

Before even booking our holiday to Paris I knew that Disneyland would an essential stop, much to my boyfriends dismay (although he enjoyed it a lot more than he thought he would).

Our day began very early, with an 8 o clock start (7 in British time) so that we could get to the park as soon as it opened. However, everyone around us seemed to have had the same idea and the queue to get in was impeccably long, so if any of you are thinking about visiting Disneyland any time soon I would suggest booking your tickets in advance or getting printable tickets like we did because it just saved us waiting in another very long line.

I have only been to Disneyland once before, and it was at Christmas time when I was around 6, and my memory of the holiday was very limited, in fact the only thing I do remember was the ice rink outside our hotel (so not actually in the park) and the gift shop. So walking into Disney felt like the first time and it was unbelievably magical. The attention to detail though out the park was mind blowing and the way they made every experience for each individual special.

I felt like the variety of activities in the park was inclusive for the whole family, it goes without saying that Disney is primarily marketed at young children but there is a substantial amount for older children and adults as well. The variety of amusement park rides was vast, too much so that we failed to get round them all. The level of intensity per ride was also given on the booklet which meant that finding the ideal ride was made easy and not time consuming, waiting in line however was. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those only going for a weekend or for the day to invest in a ‘FastPass’ ticket for the rides. It just makes getting on them so much easier and you can do what you have to do before and then you can just hop on the ride of choice. This cuts your queuing time by more than 75% and therefore you have more time to enjoy your day. Trust me the extra money is worth it.

There was many events happening throughout the day including plays and musicals in massive tent theatres, and also a daily parade which all the characters ride in floats around the Disneyland park. But the main event in my eyes was the evening show, which is a show of lights projected onto castle. This light show happens every night just before closing at 11pm. This was by far one of my favourite elements of the day, every detail was timed and imagined perfectly, and there was a mixture languages in the end show which meant that all children will feel as though they are involved. They definitely spoke in French and English, and I believe they also spoke Spanish, but don’t quote me.

My overall experience of Disney was mind blowing and I was truly in my element, the magic of the park brings out the happiness in everyone. The involvement from every member of staff was lovely to see and they all looked very happy to help. Each staff member spoke a minimum of 2 languages which is very helpful for tourists like myself.

Have a happy day!

Gap Year Photo Calendar

Good Morning World!

I feel like I have blinked and summer has disappeared! I think that a lot of people will be feeling the same as I am right now, but for me its more than just summer.

I don’t know if many of you may be aware but this time last year I finished my A-levels and decided to have a gap year before my deferred place at University. I didn’t feel ready to move away from my family just yet, and mostly because I didn’t really know what I wanted. I spent the year working full time at the job I already had prior to starting my gap year, I work in my local Care Home looking after the elderly which is a very fulfilling job. Along with having a job I have gone back and forth over the idea of going to University in the first place; I would say I am a very indecisive person especially when it comes to big decisions that will ultimately change my future, so after looking at countless different Universities, Colleges, Apprenticeships and jobs, I came to my final conclusion.

My gap year has benefited me as it meant that could not only save for Uni and have more money behind me, but it also meant that I am sure on my future and what I want to get out of my degree. I cant speak for everyone but when I have something to work for and something that I want to achieve, I work harder than if I’m just doing it for a “what if” reason. For example, my GCSE grades and my AS grades don’t reflect what I can do, I had no drive, nothing to work towards, nothing I wanted to do. About halfway though my second year at Sixth Form I knew I wanted to do Psychology at University and I worked my butt off, and it paid off. It just goes to show you how much goals really do help drive you.

So after I’ve finished rambling on, I am going to post one picture for every month of my gap year to illustrate how I have changed and what I have done this past year, starting last September.
